The Trelleborg Marine TSX5 is a marine shaft power meter / torsionmeter designed for real-time measurement of propeller-shaft torque, power, rotational speed, and direction. It uses strain-gauge technology fitted to the intermediate shaft and wirelessly transfers measurement data to a processing cabinet for vessel performance monitoring.
Features
- Real-time shaft power measurement
- Accurate shaft torque monitoring
- Measures shaft RPM and rotational direction
- Full strain-gauge bridge measurement technology
- Wireless signal transmission from rotating shaft
- Non-contact electromagnetic power supply to rotor electronics
- 4–20 mA and serial outputs
- Can interface with vessel IAS/DCS
- Remote indication on bridge or ECR
- Optional thrust measurement
- Provides cumulative measurement totals
- Supports calibration and fault-finding functions
- Suitable for integration with ShaPoLi systems
- Can help identify increasing power demand caused by hull or propeller fouling
Typical Applications
- Main propulsion shaft power monitoring
- Propeller shaft torque measurement
- Vessel performance monitoring
- Shaft RPM monitoring
- Engine and propulsion efficiency analysis
