The VAF Instruments OILCON Mark 6M is a marine Oil Discharge Monitoring and Control System (ODME) designed for continuous monitoring of oil content in ballast water being discharged overboard from oil tankers. The system continuously samples the discharge water, measures its oil concentration, calculates the oil discharge rate, records operational data, and controls the overboard discharge to help prevent discharge above permitted limits.

Features

  • Continuous oil-in-water concentration monitoring
  • Measures oil content from 0 to 1000 ppm
  • Optical scattered-light measurement technology
  • Calculates instantaneous oil discharge rate in litres per nautical mile
  • Calculates and records total quantity of oil discharged
  • Monitors ballast-water discharge flow rate
  • Uses GPS or ship’s log information for vessel speed
  • Automatic control of the overboard discharge system
  • Supports multiple ballast-water sampling points
  • LCD touch-screen operator interface
  • Internal recording of operational and discharge information
  • Designed to meet international marine pollution-prevention requirements
  • Main system incorporates MCU, EPU, skid assembly, sample pump and flowmeter system.

Typical Applications

  • Oil tankers
  • Crude-oil carriers
  • Product tankers
  • Ballast-water discharge monitoring
  • Oil-in-water monitoring
  • Overboard discharge control
  • Marine pollution-prevention systems
  • Cargo and ballast operations
  • MARPOL-compliant discharge monitoring
  • Vessel environmental compliance systems
